The Development of stop motion animation

Clay
Genre- The genre for this stop motion is action as there are 2 clay model fighting.

Figure of movement- The figure of movement is normal as the clay model had legs and arms so it is not stiff as some claymation where they have no leg and arm they just shuffle when they want to move. Also the arm and leg are humanly n because they have broken a principle of of animation. it also follow the principle of gravity because Godzilla was swinging Angurus all over the place.

Facial expression- The facial expression is tension as both Godzilla and Angurius was roaring and giving the angry facial expression. The reason why the facial expression was intense because they was both roaring with passion and it was trying to say who is the strongest.

Sound- The background music fits on at the intro of the clip and all the way through till the end of the clips. You can hear them roar and it is like realism, foot stomp realism, when they are roaring it is like a dialogue, also when godzilla swings the Angurius around and the angurius hits it back there is a special effect where when he hits it back there is a puff of smoke and that shows how power full the swing was.

The genre for this 1980's stop motion animation is comedy because of the dialogue and they way they are and look.

The figure of movement in this animation is quite shifty as they do not have legs and arm so they are just tumbling to move. Also because they are object so some object does not have arm and legs like action figure etc it is a tablet that just shuffle and tumble over to move. They have broke the principle of animation, and they have not followed the ARC principle because they are not holding any props like guns, knife etc. so it is like not effect.

Facial expression- There are no facial expression because the object have no face to express they just used a product with no face like ketchup, pills, sweet, bottle etc. so we do not know what their facial expression is.

Sound-  The sound is quite humorous because they are more than 1 object speaking and they all have different tone in their voice, for example there is a object that uses a high pitch voice and some  with a low pitch voice. also it is quite funny as they uses dialogue and trying to be funny.

The genre for this kids stop motion is comedy because it is the way they look, the way they sound.

The genre for this children stop motion is comedy because it is the way they look, the way they sound,  also because it is a claymation that also make it funny for kids because it is a kiddish thing. Also they uses the dialogue that makes it funny as well like a one liner dialogue.

The figure of  movement is realistic as the clay model has arm and legs so they have broken the principle of animation. It also follows the ARC principle because they need to hold a prop and what the clay  model hold is the chicken leg, pizza, shell and the phone and they have done this because to create the effect of realism,, give food to the cat, put the pizza in the oven, in dream blow the shell and ring the fire ambulance.

Sound -
well synced
oven burning realism
dialogue
special effect- alarm, fire, water etc.
sound effect- alarm fire, water cat

Video technolois stgy and Editing techniques

What is high definition in TV and film ? HDTV which stands for high definition television is a higher resolution than a standard definition television. If you have a HDTV  you can tell that it is better than a standard television  because with the High Definition TV the image on the screen will make it more lifelike and with the 720p and the 1080p that will give you the best quality viewing experience that you have ever seen.

If you look at this image this is a High definition television vs a normal standard television
and as you can see that the HDTV is more better, cleaner, brighter and more exciting than the Standard TV which is boring, bland and dull.

Here is another image of the HD vs SD and as you can see if you look at the SD side of the TV you can see a hill but it is not clear it is blurry but if you look at the HD side of the TV you can see that the HD have all the detail's on the hill, the sea etc.

Here is a picture of the Aspects ratio of TV and films. Usually this is measured as a ratio between the width and the height of the frame, here is an example full screen also know as classic TV format usually refers to a width of 4 unit or pixels by a height of 3 unit or 4:3.

Widescreen video can refer to a different aspects ratio but its common for a 16 unit by a height of 9 unit which is 16:9.

For a aspect ratio of 4:3 which was the viewing angle of a human eye but however film directors and cinematographers preferred to use a wider format that provides more visual real estate to help to tell the story. Some directors may even use wider 2.39:1 film stock. When it comes to cinema, aspects ratio are written as the width VS one unit of height, this is why you'll see a ratio like 2.39:1.

According to Google it is saying that the 16:9 is better for TV and film and it is true because the 16:9 is common for TV and film around the world so it is common worldwide and it is widescreen so it is perfect for TV and films.

A composite signal send standard definition transition to your devices and it is a composition also known as a composite of 3 signals and they are  luminates and 2 color. Composite signals are used to connect to some devices such as DVD'S, VCR in to televisions it is not HD signals so you might not be getting dome good quality. A component signal  is a much better quality the composite as the signal is not crush together it strips into 3 parts the luminous and the 2 color channel for better quality. You have to remember that the seperate audio signals are needed when using a composite or an component.

HDMI is a connector that allows HD video and audio to be senced through your devices taht connect to your TV such as your DVD player and blue ray player or any console but HDMI cables will not be used in the industry setup these are only for people at homes this is because the HDMI cable will have some difficaulty sending the siginal in 3 weeks cabling than 10 meters. If you are broadcasting you need a XLR cable this will connect your sound to the mixing desk which will then send to the visual mixer it matters about the lenth of the cable for a better quality.

Digital filming is a process of capturing images digitaly as a pose of historicaly use of film's real. A film reals is almost like a negative, in digital filming digital footage is stored on hard disc or flash memory or anything that can record digital data. Some of Hollywood film are now shot partly or fully of digital. Traditional film camera maker like arry, SONY, Panasonic and panavision aswell as newswenders like red have all developed digital camera. Some Hollywood film do use digital camera like starwars but hollywood producer like Cristopher Nolan says that digital camera has lost the way off a film should look like. Digitals are now going tapeless.

Terrestrial TV is a type of television broadcasting using radio siginals from transmission and television antennas and tuners for reception. The term is more common in Europe. while in north America it is refered to a broadcast television or something over the air television (OTA).

It was turned off because it was replaced with digital terrestrial TV. On the 24th October 2012 Analogue Terrestrial TV was replaced by the Digital Terrestrial TV, Analogue TV was used for over 70-75 years allowing people to use a teletex service whilse watching TV called creefax and it is now used for a red button that we use today.

Unit 1 Assignment 1

Unit 1 Assignment 1

Time
A shooting schedule is a project plan of each and every day's shooting for a film production. It is also a list of bookings that the studio has made to shoot their film, here are the following things they include cameras, settings, props and most important when they are going to shoot during the time they have. So it is important to have a shooting plans because it makes the film more organised and all the crew know what they are doing on the set and off the set.

Here is an example of what a shooting schedule look like and as you can see the schedule includes what each cast are doing in different scene, the date when they have to shoot, what kind of scene they have to do in the film, the camera shot in each scene, different props etc. So if the film is more organised then the film will turn out better than an unorganised film which does not follow a shooting schedule. To use music in any film you have you have to get clearance to allow the music into a film this could take a very long time or a short time depending on the complex of the music you want in your film which also means that you have to do a lot of negotiating. You will also have to find out who is the rightful owner of the music and who are they?

Finance
If you want to make a good documentary you will need to have a good budget to make the documentary or film, but firstly they need to get the money for making arrangement and they need to hire some crews, actors/actress  and the settings. Morgan spurlock himself did something incredible and that was Morgan Spurlock has funded the documentary 'super size me' with his own left over money from a TV series called MTV and Morgan Spurlock decided to begin making that documentary using his own left over money. To use a clip or a music from any other film it is roughly about $800 for up to 30 minutes of footage or the music or they could pay $10 for a 30 second clip or music, but to make a documentary you need the money so most of the producers can ask the channel or the studio for the correct fund to make it.

Personnel
The digital artist in the documentary 'Super Size Me' Johan Tobias has worked with some other TV series and documentary which has gave him benefit of the doubt to appear on the crew as he knows what he is doing on what he does.It is very good to get the right crew because the crew are experience so that means that there will be no mistake by the crew because there are professional and the production can be quicker than a bunch of crew with no experience in what they are doing. This will also benefit to the documentary becoming a success, getting the right crew means that  not only it will be a great documentary it also means that the crew member can get along with the people who do the setting, camera operation, lighting etc. they can make the documentary with no issue.

location
In a documentary, film or a TV show you obviously need to be set in a right certain location also you need to have permission foe where ever you want to film in that location but sometimes in the public as well. In the documentary 'super size me' Morgan Spurlock has have to book the certain place to film here is an example for some interviews, or from the public and the main location McDonald he has to visit a lot of states in America just to see the massive amount of over weight people that are living in the US and to also find out if that if it is the fattest country. It is also important to get permission as the public is being film , if they do not have permission from the people it will be uncomfortable and they also have the right not to be film without permission.

facilities
A good documentary need to have the right and specialized  equipment here are some example of the right equipment Camera, Sound, Sound mixers etc. The documentary 'super size me' needed a Sony DSR-PD150 camera but the documentary was mainly handheld, That certain camera cost up to £700-£800 to buy, to hire the camera it will cost about £50 a day and it will cost about £300 a week, it is important to have the exact right equipment because if a crew member does not have the right equipment like camera then the documentaries will be poor and the quality of the documentary will be bad also this may effect the rating of the documentary. Getting these equipment are very vital when making your documentary as you want the documentary to look good.

materials/copyright
In the documentary 'super size me' Morgan Spurlock uses an advert from the McDonald which shows a cartoon and the McDonald character 'Ronald McDonald' which he is use for entertaining the children at McDonald and on TV. To use this footage they would have asked permission to view the clip how ever long it is, they could use it for 10 second, 30 second or a minute it does not matter, you research the what studio made this clip and ask them for permission to use it in the documentary. Studio often ask for the producer to pay for what they are showing, because of copyright there are step by step instruction on how to get clearance to view the music and the clip.

  •  Determine permission requirement. copy right law allows for fair use of the copyright material without permission. Two widely accepted areas of fair use are comment (educational purpose) and parody. small portions of a long work can be expected for these uses. Any use that is similar to the intended use of the author.
  • .Identify the copyright holder. In some cases, the copyright holder will be authors, artists, musician and peet or whoever created the work. But for money the publish works, the  publisher holds the copy right. If the copyright is not clearly marked on the work the U.S. Copyright office maintain as online search function that allows users to browse through registered copyrights.
  • Make preliminary contact. The process for getting permission will vary depending on the copyright holder. Here is an example a self employed photographer will probably have a less process than a major publishing form. The first contact can be informal by phone calls, email and letter.
  • Send the written request after the initial contact there might be some negotiation over the terms. The request might not be granted at all, or there might be cost involved. Professional publisher will most likely to send a form and that must be filled out and submitted. Final permission should come in a written form to protect the right to use the copyrighted property.

If this or any other documentary needed music or any other popular music they would have to contact the artist and ask them to use the song for the film/documentary, but this can be sometimes hard as the artist may take time to reply or not reply at all if this is a low budgeted documentary or that the artist is more interested in fame and success than giving producer.

Materials and the contribution
Super size me needed many different people to be interviewed for the documentary to make it more interesting here is an example he went to many doctors in America, he went to health adviser and many more during in the documentary which he then interviewed about his health and how he was doing what he did could benefit his life later in a couple of weeks, months or could of years. He would have booked these appointment months before the movie was shot which contributes why on why they need needed them to make the documentary, but this was not more importantly he trusted some of the American public to speak on his documentary, but this was not planned at all relying on the public. He also ask the audience and the audience gave different opinion about it and they can express them and there feeling in the interview.
