What things aren't appropriate to kids?

  • Gore- It might scare them, Strong Language, blood,
  • Adult  Humour - Underage, Strong language ,
  • Aggressive Violence
  • Bullying

Adult Humour- Underage, Strong Language,

Ethics

Ethics is where they show what is good for individuals and society

Ethics covers these types of dilemmas
How to live a good life
Their rights to responsibilities
The language of what is right and wrong

What TV programs promote good moral ethics

  • Corination Street
  • Blackfish
  • Ellen talk shows
  • Teletubbies
  • Frozen
  • Balomory
  • Bob the builder
  • etc.
There are many more programs that promotes moral ethics. Mainly kids shows shows good moral ethics like Bob the builder and Teletubbies because they show friendship.

Films that promotes bad moral ethics
Family Guy
South Park-
Celebrity Juice

Should TV and films be more ethical?

TV and Films needs to be more ethical  because some TV programs are giving out the wrong message to younger viewers with foul language and adult humor. South Park is an example, The reason why I have chosen South park is because they are sending the wrong message to viewers with Adult humour, Strong Language so then the viewers will copy them and they will start saying bad words. Here is an example,  South park have been threaten by Muslims in the US for make a Muslim Prophet joke about Mohammed in their 200th episode and I agree with them because it is disrespecting the Muslims Culture and race by drawing one of the Muslim prophet in a episode and is taking the Mick out of it.

Can TV and Film be blamed for slipping ethics of society?

In my opinions TV and Films are important to the society we live in but there are some that can effect in it ways, but not all TV and Films can be blamed but some can, some are and have been reported to be offensive to the viewers. Here is an example, South park is an excellent example as the TV program have been reported and sued many times and continues to be sued and been reported. South park is a popular american TV show and have been watched millions of time because of it adult humour, but the humour can sometime be over the top and this could effect society and more worrying religion which has already sparked outrage which I think it is disrespectful towards the Muslims religion.

Why did the BBC Strike?

The BBC did a strike because of Job cuts, Work loads and claims of bullying. So they did a 12 hour strike, The corporation is cutting about 2000 jobs over 5 years. Another union has said that the dispute is also about work load and what is said of the increase demands being made by management. Which means that the news programs on television and on radio have been casualty and some of the BBC international service has been affected along with the BBC news channel, but there are BBC workers on that day like managers and non striking member of staff have been able to broadcast a short news. The reason why BBC members have a 12 hour strike is because there are very small amount of people who are being make with redundant, that is the prime reason if they stop that and give them 6 month it could have all been stopped and they would have got back to work witch they want to do.

Why did the American writers strike?

The studio has not responded to the american writer proposal. The member of the writers guild voted overwhelming to authorised a strike if they could not reach a fair and a reasonable deal with the alliance of motion picture and television producers. In three months they have dropped nine of their proposal into reaching a revaluation. The studio have still not responded on their important demands and that is why they are having a strike. South Park Muslim Sensitivity

What I saw South Park Muslim Sensitivity episode I know they were taking the mic out of the at the Muslim culture and the reason of that is because you are not suppose to draw/animate the muslim prophet because no one know what he looks like but in this clip at the timing of 2 minutes and 35 second they have just drawn/animated off Mohammed. As they was giving out the facts about muslim.

I would say that it is the media fault because I think that they are running out

Big Brother why is it unethical

Arguing
Swearing
Racism- it could offend the people who are watching it/
they have specifically selected shots

Big Brother is unethical because they dont care if they are arguing they just want entertainment for the audience. Also as Jade Goody and Shilpa was arguing, There were other celebs in the house laughing and agreeing with Jade with all her racist comment. Many sponsor for big brother have been canceled because of the racist remarks, Channel 4 has received an additional 3,000 complaints racism and bullying by the big brother housemates. The reaction in India was insane as protester took to the street of India and burned effigies (Picture) of the show organiser. In my opinion i would say that.

Positive- Entertainment for the audience,

Negative- Arguing, Swearing, Racism- Could offend people who are watching it

_________________________________________________________________________________

Should or Should be Shown

In my opinion I would say that execution should be on Tv because it is what the people have voted to watch and because it is a real life thing so people should know what is happening around the world. For abortion it was half and half and the reason is because half of the people dont want to watch it because it is murder and the viewers dont want to watch it but people say you should watch it because it is reality, the viewers can see what people on TV are going through because it is real life and you know to be careful.

BBFC
The BBFC which stands for British Board of film classification and it was founded in 1912 how ever the video recording act was introduced in 1984. For 72 years  video was release to the public without a age classification. Any video recording sold in the UK, had to have a classification by someone.

The Human Centipede 2

The BBFC has rejected this film because it was controversial and according to the BBFC they said that the concept was tasteless and disgusting and it is sexual violence but the producer said it was art, it is not real, it is make belief. The film maker opinion to the BBFC was shocking as he said "My dear people it is just a F**king movie" and "It is not real, it is all make belief."
I agree with the BBFC because if some kids watches this they will be scarred for life or they might copy the film and that will be bad for underage children, This movie should not been watch by the audience because it is disturbing for the viewers , The producer said the movie was art and I disagree with him because it seems to me that it is all messed up and the producer is messed up.

Unit 24 Assignment (Podcast)

How do you become a writer and whats it like to work as one?

  • According to this site, To be come a screen writer you would have to "Educate your self" and by that you would have to learn the basic of screen writing and that is reading books about screen writing and that will help you understand the basics structure of screen writing, Also from creating interesting characters and plot to the development of engaging and proper story structure.

  • According to "About careers" website, they are saying that there are 3 books you need to read to understand the structure of screenwriting and they are:

  • Story Structure by Robert McKee
  • Screenplay by Syd Field
  • and Screenwriters Problem Solver by Syd Field

  • One you have know the basic of screenwriting structure you just need to practice.

  • According to some sites like io9.com it says that what it like to work as a script writer is you are paid to work in conditions of your body while brainstorming fantasy. People who write script even makes mistakes to their profession.

What is a staff writer?

  • A staff writer is a byline that indicates that the author of the article at the hand is employed by the periodical that publish article as a regular staff member and as not as a freelance writer or special contributor.

  • If you want to be a staff writer a degree is not required for work as a television writer, but you do need education such as creative writing, English and film production. Courses in literary theory will help you create your own voice
  • Some staff writer get nervous when they pitch their script and they get fired because it not as good as they thought. Every staff writer gets a note to improve their script and that what some script writer hates.

What is the commissioning process, how do you get an idea commissioned

  • A Commissioning is where to put in or make for service of use, Ideas that are chosen for production.
  • Here are the job roles;
  • Commissioning editor- The commissioning editor will decide whether your idea will go into productions.
  • Executive Producer- Executive producer is responsible for ensuring the commissioner condition are met.
  • etc.
  • Here is one of the commissioning bodies;
  • Corporation- BBC

Why do you need an agent and what are the name of the some scriptwriters

  • Having an agent is important if you want to be a scriptwriter even if you get a producer interested on your own. Don't go near a contract without an agent because you can make a mistake that you can not redo your contract. So you need an agent so he can see if the contract is good for some script writing like money wise, what are the condition of giving your script etc.

How does a script get chosen

  • If your script is good enough you can tell your agent to contact and make some phone call to the people who reads the script and to see if they like it and want to make a production about the script or if it is terrible and they want nothing to do with it. You could also email the people who decides if the script is good enough and share your idea with them but make sure your agent have a read of your email if it is good enough,

How does a script writer  get paid

  • According to writersdigest they are saying that for each program they get paid so I think that for every script, scriptwriters they do they get paid. If a script get sold they get $300.000, but the writers gains an extra $200.000 if their script leads to production.
  • The script will get paid when the people who reads your script will like it and will make a production about it . That then when you will get the money but make syre you get your agent to look at the pay rate on the contract then try to negotiate it.

What legal issue do you have to worry about as a writer

  • The legal issue you have to worry as a writer is copy write when shorts are option, option agreement, real life stories/biography etc.
  • The reason why real life story and biography is an issue is because a script telling a true story may rely on on a number of difference sources such ad meterial in public or autobigoraphy which is copyright example biography will need to be cleared.

  • The word Plagiarism means that you are taking some one elses idea or take some one else work and you take credit of it and making it one of yours.
  • The word Libel mean that you are making/ publishing  a false statement that damages people reputation

What example are there of legal action involving scriptwriter of tv and film

  • According to the site npr.org it says and shows that a case between Reed Martins and Jim Jarmusch saying that film flowers is based on one of his own movie/ screenplay. It says that The dreams of screen play can be shattered if they can not get a actual film maker to read their own script. That shows that even famous people steal people film idea and take credit of it .

What do you think are some of the high points and low points of working as a writer for tv or film

  • In conclusion I think that the high points is that you can not steal anyone idea, try to make one of your idea and give it some thoughts so you do not get sued and get in court. The low point I would say is the agents, You have to find the perfect agent for you that can make your script a success so you can have a lot of money to your success and you can make more script. The reason why the agent is a low point is because there are many agents to choose from but you need to fine the right agent so you can be successful.
