Unit 32 Assignment 2 (Update)

Production Diary

  • On Thursday 4th December 2014 I have Chosen my 3 ideas of what the itv music ident will be and look like. I wanted to mash up all my idea to turn them into one great idea. There has been nothing like my 3 idea smash together so i will enjoy editing it and adding music
  •  My whole idea took a while to think but i have found 3 ideas, I just need to choose one of the 3 ideas, something that has never been seen by the audience.
  • On Friday 5th December 2014 I have found out what my colour scheme is going to be on my 'itv logo' and the colour scheme is (dark red, pink, purple, and blue) It will match out with the video I have chosen
  • I have also done the target audience for 4 music and viva by getting information from the internet and taking screen shots, also explaining why the target audience is right for 4music and viva.
  • I have talked about the the design of different music channel and logo of different ident. I have talked about the logo of 4music and VIVA, the target audience, the colour and design of the logo etc.
  • I have design 3 itv logo for each ident I have chosen also I have done the story board explaining what will be in there and what type of music, camera shots will be in.
  • The brand ident look good to me because my ident is going to be all up to date, popular culture and it reflects the channel and music content.

LOGO

Main Logo

Ideas.
Crowd
1.My idea is get a found footage of a crowd, dancing and cheering with all the lights effect then edit     the found footage to put in the logo that I have creative and edit on the found footage. Once I have edited the logo in to the found footage there will be various of songs that will be add in there to make it more lively and fun. The music will be all the latest songs so it can match with the found footage.

Abstract
2. My second idea is also find a found footage but this is like a abstract design and with that design I will add in the itv logo, with the word 'Music' coming out of the logo or just popping up. The music will be added in to the found footage. The music will be different variety of music like some old song and some new songs.

slow mo paint
3. My third idea is another found video of plaint being thrown about in slow motion and it is an abstract design. With that design I will add in the itv logo at the end of the found video. The itv logo will appear when the paints are splatter together. There will be music in this to make it good and it can also catch the audience attention because it is colourful and eye catching with some latest songs.

Mind maps

  • The age bracket for this music ident is going to be like 16 years old and over the reason why I have done the age 16 is because some of the songs may include foul language.
  • There will be lots of colour in the ident like all the bright colour and the reason why am i using bright colour is that it can get the audience attention as they see the ident. There will be no location as it is a found video that I think it looks good and it will get the audience attention.

In this 4music logo you can see that they have done a design of a number 4 in a bright pink colour and that will attract the audience because the colour is eye catching and it stands out from far away. Also Inside the design of the 4 you can see that they have the writing of 'music' in bold and white writing The reason why they have done that is because they want the audience to know that the logo is a music logo/ channel so they dont think it is something else like a movie channel if it is a movie channel they would have put the word movie in the bright pink 4 sign but they put the word music in so they are letting the audience know that they are a music channel that do music and not like a movie channel. Also the colour contrasts is good because it is all eye catching that you can see from far and in close and that it stands out to get the audience attention. The bright pink colour targets girls because the logo is pink and it is feminism but it can also targets boys because some boys like the colour pink or that some audience like the music in 4music so it could targets both gender of the audience.

In This VIVA logo you can see that it is plane and boring with the colour of a dark pink which can get the audience attention because of its colour. Also as you can see to the Viva logo is slanted a bit it is not straight and probably the reason is because they wanted to be different from every other music company logo like 4Music. It is not like 4music where you can see that 4music have doen some effort to make it good and eye catching by adding the bright pink  to make it stands out and the white bold writing kust to stand out but on the VIVA you can see that they have made no effort they just add a bright colour so that the audience can see what brand it is. With the logo colour it can attract female because of the bright pink but it could also attract male because some male do like the colour of pink, or it could attract the audience because of the music choice so the target audience can be for both gender.

itv is a comercial/ program in the United Kingdom, The target audience for itv is for everyone, all the audience and that is because all the programs in itv are suitable for all the audience, (kids/young adults, teenagers, older adults).

4MUSIC
The target audience for 4music and viva are for 16 years old to 34 years old, here is an example of a picture saying the target audience.

VIVA
The target audience for viva are for young teens and young adult. The reason why they have done this is because the music in viva are like young
Here is an example of the target audience for viva .

Storyboard 1. Ident 1

 TV program

My idea is for a reality TV program and is a found footage of a crowd, dancing and cheering with all the lights effect then edit     the found footage to put in the logo that I have creative and edit on the found footage. Once I have edited the logo in to the found footage there will be various of songs that will be add in there to make it more lively and fun. The music will be all the latest songs so it can match with the found footage. The reason why I have chosen this as a tv program is

Countdown

My second idea is  for a TV count down and is also a found footage but this is lik a abstract design and with that design I will add in the itv logo, with the word 'Music' coming out of the logo or just popping up. The music will be added in to the found footage.  The music will be different variety of music like some old song and some new songs. In the music countdown ident there will be a countdown of the top 40 music. The reason why I have chosen this ident is because of the special effect of the circle, I was thinking that the logo will come up then disappear when the count down begins for every song that come on the logo will show then the countdown.

Documentary

My third idea is going to be for documentary and it is another found video of plaint being thrown about in slow motion and it is an abstract design. With that design I will add in the itv logo at the end of the found video. The itv logo will appear when the paints are splatter together. There will be music in this to make it good and it can also catch the audience attention because it is colourful
and eye catching with some latest songs. The reason why I think this ident is perfect for a documentary is because the way you look at it, it looks like a documentary type where there are paints thrown around it looks like a a documentary.

Unit 32 Assignment 1 designing indents

What is a Idents:

  • Short Video clips that ids a channel
  • Like a graphic
  • Carries the channels logo

ITV BE- Reality/ Targeted to women
E4- Animated makes it more interesting/quirky
BBC One- Genre of programming

Why we use an IDENT

- every channel have ident so they can show what genre of the programe it is, the brand identity or the programe that coem on next, section out the channel

- they target different people  of the demographic of the channel

- Ident tool for marketing, keep you intrest so you dont tue over

- we have more than one ident because it keep it interesting

- Ident can be seasonal, like Christmas stuff will be on the tv.

targeted men who liek sportGenre of programe and it is for men

  targeted men who like sport

The purpose of an ident

To persuade- idents are marketing tool so you dont change the channel they want you to carry on watching it.

To create a brand Identity- Consistency

To Break up programe- They break up the programe because the one that does not have advert like but ITV has advert.

Voice over is important on the tv programe because it is teling you what to watch

Opportunities

Brand

A good ident design for a brand can get good reputation and audience
The brand can be for other design job
You can get paid if you o a good job and if other brand want your ident you can charge them more

Design

Design- It can give you power and you can go on an edge with the design
If you have a borring ident design for example discover channel you can doa successful re- brand
The design can have a popular or have more viewers
you can have a shared piece of interest
Paid charge more
Restrictive contract on the design.

Limitation for a designer

Depending on the brief you might have to keep the colour
-Audience in mind
-Time scale

Knowledge-experience of brand and channel/ audience

Software Imitations-

Bad reputation for inconsistency, failure, poor skill set

Brief is not clear, you might get criticisms may not direct

Rubbish ident

For this ident I would say it is professionalism . The reason why I am saying this is because it is not professional it looks so wrong what they are doing. I understand it maybe funny for kids but it is not professional.
What they could do to make it look better is do like an illusion with the logo to make the audience thinking about it whilst it is a break or a program starting.

The Limitation for this ident is the design. The reason why I am saying the design is because the whole design is rubbish with two weird looking character fighting
What they could do to make it better is like get action figure or a fighting game just showing their wrestling moves.

The limitation for this ident is the creativity. It just look rubbish with the kites circling around the BBC One logo they should have thought something better than kites.
What they could do to make the ident better is is like get balloonsand just let it go in the sky with the logo coming in 3-5 second later.

BBC 4 Ident (Key color, text, speed, use of space

BBC Arts

Design Elements- (Colours,Texts, speed, space)- The BBC Art is fast pace with some Hand Transition. It shows a lot of Nature and the camera shots/video is all close up and some Mid shots on all nature stuff. There are many different colours under the logo, here are some examples Black and White, Pink.

Purpose- What is it used for- Audience it is targeting- Nature programs, it is like documentaries, footage is actually occurring, it is persuading as it shows a lot of images, people who like documentaries, nature and factual program. The age rating 30-48 years old.

Creative- Hand transitions pulling the images across the screen, video of octopus, The hand move with the lizard. The BBC 4 channel is a interesting creative channel.

compare
Which was most creative, More better at targeting and is more better for genre program.

The second BBC 4 Ident

BBC Arts (James Richard)

Design Elements- (Colours,Texts, speed, space)- The second BBC 4 ident is a slow pace, There are no transition in the second ident, It just shows birds in the ident, the camera angle is like a mid shot of all the bird flying, the colours in this ident are black, grey and white behind the same logo. It keeps the identity, The sound track is unique and unusual, you can hear the sound of the sea in this ident at a time at (0:10-0:18).

Purpose- What is it used for- Audience it is targeting- It sells the program, its Arty, The footage in the ident look factual and realism , In this ident they have lots of intresting shots like the birds it is cultural at the time of 0;24, show case of an genre program, it is like a documentaries, it get the audience thinking, it reflects on cultural program.

Creative- Movement in the background are very unusual, gets you guessing what is happening and aht is it, it messes with you mind and it is telling you that it is a very unusual channel, it also uses your imagination, it uses disorted images, black and white at the time of (0.01), it is like a dream feel like the camera is floating

BBC 4 Ident

BBC Art (John Smith)

Design Elements- (Colours,Texts, speed, space)- The logo is still the same following identity, There are colors like bluw and yellow in this ident as well, it slow pace but it gets faster as it continues, clever design, it has a theme, it has a picture of a bee, bee, sea and a number 4 in s style of a clock, it also has a sound for each one. At the time of 0:00-0:06 the B-B-C lettering come in every time when the clock strikes in sync (Four times)

Purpose- The purpose is to sell to the audience and persuade them to watch the channel, when they realise the clever thing they have done

Creative- They use creativity such as imagery to tell us the use of the channel this ident is very creative as i have discussed about it, it is clever for what they have done, weird and unusual is BBC 4 ident.

Compare-
I think the ident that is more creative is the 3rd ident the reason why I think that is because it is very creative, good use of imagery to spell out the name of the program, Bee, Bee, Sea, 4. This ident is the only one that stood out on me also with the color of the ident as well it is eye catching and colorful. They are weird and unusual when they make these ident but that is good because it is different from any other ident and it catches the audience attention .

Studio Production Diary

https://drive.google.com/?authuser=0#folders/0BwKLEeZ3dEOVelViWFVZeHR5V2s

My job role was a camera man and I found it exciting and enjoyable the reason why I found it fun is because it is quite simple once you get the hang of it.

What you had to do- I was a camera man and all I had to do is get the camera angle right for the shot and just zoom in, zoom out, pan etc. and just trying to make the video look good with the angle and other stuff.

How you think the team worked together- I know the team worked well because it went all well and we got a video so it all went well, everyone took their job seriously and it all went well

what you would do different next time - what I would do do different next time is try a another camera and get the angle right and  make it different from other people when they are on the camera.

UNIT 23 Assignment 1

A multi camera is were any TV shows, films uses more than one camera. The reason why they uses more than one camera is because so that they can shoot from different angle. Multi camera is a method for shooting films using many cameras. The camera are set up in different places in order to gain variety of shots. It also is use for cutting down the time taken to shoot.

A single camera production is were they they use one camera throughout a film or TV series. Each of the shots are taken individually using the same camera. The camera is then moved and reset to get a new shot or angle. Each of the shot was is filmed to correspond with other shots to create a sense of continuity allowing the audience to follow the story.

http://journeytosuccess92.blogspot.co.uk/2011/11/multi-camera-techniques.html

http://laurenbaileysinglecameraproduction.blogspot.co.uk/2011/01/advantages-and-disadvantages-of-single.html

http://jacksinglecameraproductionblog.blogspot.co.uk/2011/01/advantages-and-disadvantages-of-single.html

The pros for multi camera production are

  • It would be impossible to film with a single camera at a live event like sports

The Cons for multi camera production are

  • live event the quality of multi camera footage is not quite up to the single camera. This is mostly for films as using a single camera allows you to frame each shot.

This clip uses multi camera techniques. The time code 0.29-0.49 shows how they use one camera to a wide shot of the goal and then at a time code of 0.49-0.55 shows that there was a fade into a close up and it another camera doing a close up of the player scoring goal. They have used more than one camera because with the wide shot is shows that it is following the player and the action of the ball.

This programme shows that they uses more than one camera. The time code 0.01-0.26 shows how they use one camera for a wide shot and the other for a close up. The reason why they uses them 2 technique is because with the wide shot it shows a wide view of the cube and the audience and with the second camera shot, the close up shows that the tension and facial reaction when they lose a life or win the game in the cube. The reason why they use close up is because it would be boring having a wide shot of the contestant playing the cube it needs to be close up because we can see what they are doing wrong or right.

This programme shows that they use more than one camera at a time code 0.02-0.10 shows that one camera uses a mid shot of the contestant then it pans to the presenter also it zooms in to the presenter. Also it takes a wide shot of the audience, the stage and the contestants. The reason ehy they do these shots at the start is because it shows how calm the contestants are it zoom in to the presenter because it shows the presenter and the reason why they show the stage and the contestant with a wide shot is because they want to show the stage

This clips shows that they use more than one camera at a time code of 0.13-0,39 shows that one camera pans and do a long shot of the people doing the sport and the other camera do a over the shoulder shot showing what the people doing. The reason why they also did a wide shot of the studio is because they are showing that they are watching it as well.

I would say that the that the cube and the football have both made really successful use of multi camera set up to allow the audience to follow the action and the game.out of these to I would say that the football uses the multi camera to make the audience cheer when they zoom in on the player goal to the audience cheering which make me want to cheer when they score. It would destroy the programme if they use only one camera.

Risk Assessment - Fashion

Risk Assessment- This Week Roundups  (VT)- Fashion

Location 1
Jade house/ Ashton

The Risks
i. People coming in the way when they are filming
ii. If half of the crew go on their own and don’t know where they are going
iii. They take the wrong equipment/ forget some equipment
iiii. They didn’t bring the prop for the VT

How we solve the risks.
i. They can solve this risk by having the co director or the production manager to stop the people from camera set up and filming.
ii. They could arrange it last night and meet up and go together it would be easier for everyone.
iii. We can solve this risk by booking the right equipment or checking the equipment before going out to film.
iiii. We can solve this risk by packing up the cloths/ makeup before they go or go to jade house first and get ready then film go to ashton.

Studio Production Presentation

http://prezi.com/z0v_o_s58ipq/studio-production-pitch/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy

Jade: Our idea was to make a show for younger people, both genders aged 10 to about 18. It's going to be informative, telling the audience about weekly news, sport and music highlights as well as viral news and fashion.

Examples of how the audience will be targeted.
Will : The audience will be targeted by us talking about topics and issues that are relevant to our target audience age range of 10-18.
Our music segment will target both genders and a youth age upwards, 13-20. The band and presenters are also teenagers and the music debate will be aimed at the youth culture and how the perception of music has changed, and overall, has it influenced or hindered todays youth compared to the last few generations.

Ben: The fashion part will target girls aged 15 and up. This is because the fashion being shown will be aimed at women who want to get clothes for lower prices, being on a budget. Mainly for students as they have to be logical about what they can buy and topics like this are useful for those on a budget but still want good clothes.

Callum: The target audience for sport would be mainly males, but females also enjoy watching sports. We'll be featuring the most popular sports such as athletics, rugby, cricket and football to attract a wide audience.

The viral videos segment will target teenagers around 13 to 18, people who are on SOCIAL NETWORKSregularly. Videos from social networking sites such as Youtube and Vine are viewed by a worldwide audience. On Youtube, over 4 billion videos are viewed everyday. We are targeting this audience because it's a wide audience with a variety of different people (young, old, male, female).

Why the audience will like the programme
Freddie: The audience will like our programme because we have segments for both genders and different kinds of people. For example we have sports which targets a male audience as well as fashion which will attract a female one.

Jade: There's nothing out there right now that's like this, presented by the age range of the target audience and covers so many topics, each segment will be 2 to 3 minutes long so the audience won't get bored and the programme will flow well making it enjoyable for them to watch.

Examples of genre.
Bilal: Our program targets many different genres such comedy, news, sport, fashion and music.

For the comedy aspect we are taking inspiration from celebrity juice, we are doing this by taking the challenges that and games that they use on the show, for example we are getting our presenters to go out into public dressed up and busking.

We are going to incorporate a news segment in our show discussing the news that is going on in that week to help inform the audience. we will be taking inspiration from BBC news but we hope to make it slightly different by making it more fun and current for younger people, for example talking about celebrity news.

Matt: We are going to have a segment that dedicated to sport which would target our male audiences. We will talk about the latest news that is going on in sport for example scores of recent football matches along with other sports.

We are also doing a fashion and beauty part to the program to target the female audience where our presenters will tell the audience about fashion tips and celebrity's fashion and beauty trends that they can get for cheaper.

For our music we are taking inspiration from shows such as later with Jools Holland where acts will perform live in the studio and we will ask them questions about their act.

Why ours is quirky/creative/important.
Alex: It is a fun and good idea because it is different and unique to all other shows which are similar. We're including a challenge and forfeit which will be fun for the viewers to watch.
It's creative because we've incorporated all of our ideas and merged them together to form one, so we've all had an input on the idea and we've all been able to make something our own in it.
Finally it is important as it informs all generations about what is happening in a way which they will all understand and respond well to how it is presented and put across to the audience

Visuals and what we'll be talking about.
Jess: All our segments will be presented in front of the green screen, or next to the TV if we're cutting to a VT. We'll be talking about a range of topics from sport and the weeks news, to fashion and music along with a challenge similar to what you get on youtube so that our programme will target a wide range of people.

Unit 33 evaluation prep

We have chosen to do a cut out stop motion animation about The history of stop motion, Josh and Arran have chosen what they was going to do and I know what I was going to do. Josh was first with his 30 seconds of his stop motion animation and I was second so I have chosen the game of Fifa , Sonic and Mine craft, We all wanted to make our stop motion funny because we just wanted to make our stop motion funny and different from everyone else also we wanted to make everyone laugh as well with the explosion blowing up everything. Our goal was to make people laugh because our stop motion animation is funny and unusual with the explosion in the stop motion animation. Yes I think we have achieved our goal because we all have 30 second each of our stop motion animation, we all have 4/5 or more sounds for our stop motion animation.

The best bit in my stop motion animation I would say is the sonic. The reason why I have chosen sonic is because there is more detail in the drawing, there are explosion when you do not expect it, the sound when sonic is collecting the ring and losing the rings. It is like the real game but there are explosion that makes it different and funny. The character is good as well as it look like sonic also the story line is good because when you all watch it you think it is a ordinary sonic game but at the end there is explosion that changes the whole story line and make it hilarious for the viewers. In my opinion I think that my weakest bit is the Mine craft stop motion animation the reason why I think that is because it is too short and quick

The target audience for our stop motion animation is for teen/ gamers the reason why I have chosen the target audience is because my stop motion animation is about games so it will be good for teens who play games (male/female) also gamers because they play game as well. Yes I think I have targeted the target audience because the screen shots shows that these are the game that they might use to play or still playing the game

I have used a lot of different sound in my 30 second of the stop motion animation for example at the start my first game you can hear "EA SPORT TO THE GAME" then you can hear the crowd chanting, the player touching and shooting the ball, the sound of the ball hitting the net, for the sonic sounds you can hear the background music of sonic gameplay, the ring sound effect when sonic get the rings, sonic losing the rings sound effect, sonic yells sound effect, the bomb exploding sound effect and the game over sound effect and for the mine craft sound there is the the theme of the mine craft sound effect, the creeper sizzling sound effect and a explosion sound effect.  I think they are all successful because it goes with all the games I did  and it sound good .

screen shots:

Questions:

  • What did you think about the story line?
  • What did you think about the character design?
  • Do they look like the exact character in the game?
  • Are the colours right for the character?
  • Does the target audience match with our stop motion animation?
  • Which bits could have been better?
  • My target audience was for teens and gamers do you think it targets them?

What were the common answers about the storyline?
The common answer about the story line was in their word ''great and good'' The reason why they put those words is because they understood our story line. our story line was a history of gaming and they all understood and liked the story line.

What were the common answers about the character design?
The common answer for the character design were ''good, great'' the reason why they have put those answer is because the character design looks like the original game character so they like it because they look the same they.

What were the common answers about the colours/drawings?
The common answer about colour and drawing are '' yes they look similar, perfect'' They have put those answer because the color for the character and the set design are exact as it is in the actual game.

What were the common answers about the set?
The most common answer about the set is ''great and look exact as the original game'' what they mean was that the drawing of our stop motion set was exact as the original game and it was good.

What were the common answers about what could be better?
The common answer about what could be better was ''The fade's in every game'' The reason why they have said that is because when my stop motion was chaining games and was doing our 30 second there was no transition it was just straight in to another game.

What were the common answers about the target audience?
The most common answer for the target audience was ''gamer and teens'' and I am OK with the answer because it is right, my stop motion animation is about games and the target audience is right for my stop motion.

Do you agree with the common answers; explain which parts you agree or disagree with and why.
Yes I agree in all of the answer because they are all right and true because they have put the story line was good and they understand it and i agree with that because everyone can understand it it is a stop motion for games. I agree with what they said about the character design because the character design was spot on with the original character in the game. I agree with all there answer.

Compare your stop motion to something similar, how does yours compare?
I would say that our stop motion compare with other game stop motion like pac man stop motion with post it notes but we did ours with paper cut out. it compare because it is all about games.
